[1] Helvan - Booming Coastal Land

Helvan is a small country on the far west coast of the Doloran mainland, made up of mostly grasslands. It is well known as the only country in the world with an almost equal Human and Elf population, and the two races get along well enough. Naturally, this does not extend to the population of Light Elves in the country, and Helvan is one of four nations in the world with a booming slave trade, most slaves being Light Elves.

With the borders of the nation surrounded on three sides by water, Helvan relies more on its coastal trade then most other countries. They additionally offer charter services for Themosa, one of the few nations that does not have part of the transcontinental river flowing through it, and makes a good amount of commerce providing trade routes between its neighbors and Mirandia across the ocean.

Helvan is unique in that it is ruled by a pair of Kings and Queens, one Human, one Elf. When the two couples can not agree on a decision, choices are turned over to a parliament of individuals representing the people, though because the Elf members often side with their Elf rulers and the Humans do the same, it often comes down to the few Thrope and Netzi representatives to make the decisions, despite being the smallest members of the country.

[2] Drăculești - Megacity of the Night

Taking up the entirety of the small southwest peninsula of the main land as a single city, a grand structure housing the entire Vampire nation of the world. The city walls are built like that of a fortress, rising high in the air. There is a lot that is not known about the eternal affairs of Drăculești, but spies from the outside have occasionally made it out again to tell their tale. The megacity is actually split into four smaller cities, two ground level cities to the east and west, and two more on elevated platforms supported by giant pillars. The lower level is locked in perpetual night, while the upper level has an open sky.

Non-vampires live within the city walls, but they are not treated as servants or cattle. Rather, they live in harmony with the Vampires, mostly occupying the upper two cities while regularly donating blood to blood banks to keep the Vampires fed. The majority of the Vampires live in the lower cities where they are protected from the sun. Drăculești seems to have a self sufficient economy. No spy has ever seen them, but it is believed Drăculești is ruled by a counsel of elder vampires with representatives for the non-Vampire citizens. The megacity seems prosperous, and it is little wonder they have stayed secluded for so long.

[3] Lustania - Island of Elvin Peace

Off the southwest coast of the mainland sits the Island nation of Lustania. It is primarily composed of Elves, though Humans and Thropes are invited as long as they follow an important rule: everyone, including Light Elves, is equal. This is the only country in the world with a healthy Elf population that rejects the notion that Light Elves are inferior. The majority of the original settlers come from nearby countries, where they did not agree with how Light Elves were treated and sought out a place of their own to call home.

They weren't picky, and that was a good thing considering where they ended up. Lustania is so far south, it is frozen over most of the winter and a bog most of the summer. They use their warmer months as best they can to harvest as much food as possible, and rely heavily on the mainland for imports. Luckily, they can maintain an economy with the exportation of exotic animals and plants that are only available on Lustania, as well as shipping large quantities of fresh spring water from the southern continent of ice.

The country is ruled by a Royal Elf family. As one would expect, it is composed of both Elves and Light Elves. Lustania excepts all refugees from other nations, and this is caused friction with countries demanding extradition of accused criminals.

[4] Themosa - Nation of Magitech

Along the Northwest coast of the Doloran mainland is Themosa. It is mostly made up of plains and grasslands, but has a fairly large forest in the north and a smaller one towards the center, as well as the second largest lake on the mainland, Lake Rosaline. Sporting a population that is nearly split between Human and Thrope and the lowest population of Elves of any country, one would think decision making is split between Humans and Thropes, much like it is between Humans and Elves in Helvan. Rather, the humans are the controlling body, and the slave trade of this country includes a majority of Thropes.

The country has not the richest of nations in the world, and focuses more on technological advancements. The countries greatest asset is a number of rather potent ley lines that assist in the development of magic-based technology. Without the transcontinental river running through it, Themosa relies a lot on its neighbors for importing goods.

The nation of Themosa is ruled by a fairly strict royal house. The King and Queen (mostly the King) have final say in all matters. The only place this lacks is in the northern forest, which is territory claimed by Faeries, though this being one of the smallest Faerie Kingdoms makes it hard for them to get their way.

[5] Bevland - Forest of Diverse Origins

Located in the western part of the mainland, Bevland is a nation largely covered in forest, save for a small desert to the northeast caused by its proximity to the Virando mountains. Bevland has a mixed populated of humans, Thropes, Elves, and Netzi, and even has a small population of Ophidians in the forests to the south.

The lush country exports a lot lumber while relying on its neighbors with more open space for farming. Recent movements have called for more farming of their own near towns, and the clearing of land for cattle has increased over the last several centuries.

Bevland has an odd history, being a country that is made up of parts that were originally part of its surrounding countries. The humans of the east, Thropes of the north, and Elves of the west fought for control of their land, and finding a common purpose, combined forces to form a country of their own.

Bevland is ruled by a royal Parliament, the noble houses of each race electing members of their house to represent the interests of their people. There is a chair for the Ophidians, Bevland being the only nation that offers this, but the Ophidians have never accepted their seat, preferring to live outside of their society.

[6] Virando - Land of Farms & Wealth

Virando is a the second largest country in the world, located to the west of the mainland's center. It is largely composed of plains and fields, with the Virando mountains to the northwest and tundra on its southern peninsula. Virando's population is over 70% human, with Elves, Thropes, and Netzi composing the combined remaining 30%. Naturally, this means the nation is largely controlled by humans.

With large, open fields, varying climates with the country stretching all the way from the northern end of the main land to the southern end, the transcontinental river making its way through a large portion of the north, and the world's fourth and fifth largest lakes in the southern half, Virando is an ideal nation for farming, and they export a large amount of the food used by the countries west of the Phelion Mountains. This has made the country of Virando the second richest nation in the world.

The nation is largely patriarchal, and it is ruled by a Tsar, the Tsarina having some power but mostly a figure head. The nation used to be a part of the slave economy, but maintaining good relations with non-slave using countries for the sake of their more prosperous food exchange led to an abolishment of slavery over 500 years ago.

[7] Neren'teva - Nation of Artists and Poets

Neren'teva is a nation located along the northern coast in the center of the Doloran mainland. It is primarily covered in forests with Lake Illia, the third largest lake in the world, in the center. It's southern border also contains some plains and the northern most section of the Temaran Desert. The population has the smallest human composition per capita, and the majority of the citizens are Thropes and Elves. The forests also contain one of the two largest populations of Faeries.

The lumber industry is strong in this nation, but not so much as in other countries as the occupants wish to disturb the beauty of the woods as little as possible. Neren'teva is a nation of artists and poets, living to make things beautiful. It is one of only two nations in the world that does not allow for the free movement of Hunters across their borders, Neren'teva's reason for this that they need to be sure the Hunters will respect the land. As such, most Hunters don't bother traveling to here unless they were hired for a job.

The nation is ruled by a parliament of royals, most of which are Elves and Thropes. Humans have little representation, but no large problems come of this. Neren'teva even has a single royal family of Light Elves, which might not seem like much, but is a big deal outside of places like Lustania.

[8] The Duchy of Kemar - Scorching Land of Sands

Smack dab in the center of the mainland is the Kemarin desert, most of which makes up the Duchy of Kemar. While technically considered its own country, the Duchy of Kemar is owned and controlled by the Virando. Like its parent country, it is mostly populated by Humans.

Towns within the Duchy are few and far between, and rely heavily on food sent by Virando, springs, and magic from Ley Lines to survive. The country provides some of the best artisans and blacksmiths, and the best hand weapons, in the world, and it is because of this and rare materials mined in the Duchy that allows it to survive.

The Duchy is ruled by a Governor who reports directly to the Virando Tsar, and noble heads in each town that report the the Governor. The hot sands of the Kamarin desert as home to the world's largest population of Ophidians, who cause constant trouble for the settlements. Luckily, they have no shortage of weapons to defend themselves with.

[9] Serasam - Industrial Wonderland

Serasam is a large country in the center of the mainland, its eastern borders the mountains. It has a diverse population of Humans, Elves, and Thropes. It is primarily plains with a small forest towards the south, tundra on the southern peninsula, and the transcontinental river flowing through its center.

Serasam is a largely split between being a technology and magically based country, and some of the best inventions that combine the two fields come from here. Serasam is the only country in the world that produces automobiles, mainly because they are, as of yet, unreliable and difficult to produce, but the single industry making them swears that one day, everyone will want one.

While at least a thousand years old, Serasam shifted its rule towards a more democratic rule 300 years ago. The first country to side with Mirandia during the great war, they were inspired by what Mirandia was accomplishing with both democracy and its diverse population. Campaigns began to draw in more Netzi, Elves, and Thrope to the formally 75% Human country, leading to its diversity today. It is still ruled by a Queen and King, but it has an elected parliament that represents the people. The Queen can reject the decisions by parliament, but doing so opens her up to royal impeachment. So far, only one royal member has had to step down because of this.

[10] Elluviana - Jungle Paradise

Situated one the northern part of the main land, on an island covered in dense trees, is the Island country of Elluviana. The majority of the island's population is Thropes, and they fancy their home a paradise. It is quite tropical, warm and humid all year round. The jungles are dangerous, monsters lurking in the trees, along with dangerous wild animals and locals. The small towns, however, are peaceful, Thropes of all shapes and sizes living in harmony.

This peacefulness mean they don't have the strongest military in the world, but they put all their attentions into defense over offense, having no desire to move beyond their island home, and have stayed out of most confrontations since the country was establish two thousand years ago. Elluviana exports exotic tropical fruits, wood, and minerals only found in their island, and has the closest thing this world has to a tourism society. It is ruled by a royal family, though who in the family with act as Emperor or Empress is subject to vote, a means to hold them accountable for their actions and work for public approval.

The country houses a medium sized Faerie community deep within the jungle. Like most Faeries, they avoid contact with non-Faeries, though get along relatively well with the Thropes because of a mutual respect for the land.

[11] Fairaven - Elven Land of Scholars & Magic

Fairaven is an eastern country bordering the east side of the mountains. Aside from the mountains, it is mostly covered in forest. It has the largest population of Elves in one country, who make up 85% of the population, the other 15% being humans, Thropes, and a small Faerie community.

Fairaven is a country of academics and philosophers, book writers and scholars. It is also responsible for great leaps in the study of magic. The Elves are very self reliant, and deal with other countries as little as possible. The air of superiority many Elves have is strong here, and they are very strict on who goes through their borders, including Hunters. If you don't have friends in the country or at least a few Elves in your party to do the talking, don't expect to get in.

The country is ruled by a Elven King and Queen. They have noble houses to give the royal family advice and keep them informed of the wishes of the people, but they otherwise have total say in all dealings.

[12] Stormrend - Land of Tradition and Firearms

Stormrend is a medium size country located in the northeast part of the Doloran mainland. It's wide and lush grass lands have a medium size forest to the north, and a smaller forest to the south that extends into the southern Neighbor's country. It has a large Human population, with a smaller Thrope and Elf population, as well as one of the largest Faerie populations in the world.

Stormrend exports plants and animals that only grow in their lands, as well as making unique furniture and items for everyday consumption and use. Stormrend is additionally the firearms center of the world, and while firearms have a ways to go before they reach the level of reliability as a hand weapon, if your gun is from Stormrend, it is one of the best.

Stormrend is ruled by a Emperor and Empress. While they have full control, Stormrend has laws that allow for the removal of the royal family (the entire royal family) if the people become too dissatisfied with them. Stormrend has a much better relationship with Mirandia then in the past, now relying on them for fresh water in their more western parts. They are also relatively close to their Faerie population, but only in the sense that they stay out of each other's way.

[13] Mirandia - Land of Diversity in People and Focus

Mirandia is a large country in the southeast, taking up nearly a quarter of the entire mainland. It is most open plains and grassy hills, but has a small patch of tundra to the far south, the world's largest lake, Lake Selma, to the south, two separate forests in the north, a small desert to center east, and the transcontinental river flowing through its entire east to west length.

Mirandia is populated by a diverse people, originally composed of Humans, Thropes, and Elves sent to a formally undesirable location to get rid of them. These original settlers made the most of it, and started to make the land more hospitable. As they succeeded, people started coming to Mirandia on purpose, trying to escape oppression and control from their former countries of origin.

Once they had enough people and hospitable land to form their country, they went with a democracy from the beginning, having no ruling party from the start and wishing to avoid that which the citizens were either expelled from or fled from. After the Great World War, Mirandia kept the land they had gained during the war, making it one of the largest countries in the world.

Mirandia is something of a jack-of-all-Trades when it comes to specialty. While usually beaten by other countries that focus on these fields, Mirandia has its hands in farming, technology, magic, crafting, and weapons manufacturing.

The land is ruled by a democratically elected group called the Judges of Mirandia, with elected representatives from the country's seven districts, as well as appointed mayors for each district. The Judges have authority in all matters once elected, but are reelected every five years. The nation additionally has two large Ophidian clans, and when they aren't pestering the people of Mirandia, they are feuding with each other.

[14] The Land of Ice - Country of Perpetual Snow

Far to the south lies the expansive Land of Ice. Frozen all year round, even in the summer, no country holds claim over it, though they can claim sections for research. Such research is usually the only reason anyone goes there. The harsh cold, howling winds, powerful blizzards, and monsters who are used to the cold make it a deadly land, and with no permanent outpost, there is little to no help to call for should one be in trouble.
