Anyone know anything about videogame capture devices? I am getting one to record footage from my PS4 to my PC to improve the quality of my voice over and to bypass those games that don't let the PS4 record cutscenes.

But what programs can I use to actually record on my PC? Preferably a free one if there are any. The capture device already cost more then I want to admit.
OBS is an option that allows for a lot of customization at the cost of requiring just about ALL of your computer's capability. Elgato should give you their own software if you buy their capture device. All in all, if you aren't using Elgato for your PS4 recording, stick to OBS.

Also, Streamlabs OBS REALLY fucks with your computer.

This is the first time I've heard anything about issues with SLOBS... though it was made only last year... so I can imagine it wasn't designed to be usable on older operating systems. But, that is a good point, Elgato (similar to Nvidia) have their own recording software that is free to all users of their produces. However, I do still stand by my claim of Streamlabs over OBS studios... since Streamlabs put a lot of work into making it extremely user friendly. Just maybe not use it if you don't have Windows 8 or 10 (since it's not designed with 7 or lower in mind)

oof... xsplit is the recommended streaming service. Which works if you're not going to stream (but if plan on live streaming Xsplit is another 100 or so bucks). Otherwise, just try and get SLOBS to work and if not, OBS studios is your next best bet
