Desmond seems to be stuck in a constant struggle to make himself look good through his deeds to counter how bad EXALT makes him look by association by their actions. Thus is the pains of a (former?) spy.
Well, I assume Jess/Alex are lonely in that cell...they might need company.
It will be worse for them when Exalt attacks and they are found out anyways.
And to think that those two and Ellie always seem to get into situations where fanfiction writers would go nuts.
