But your word isn't law, you're a peasant like me

My point is is that not every character in the game has this "I must conserve all my power" mindset like you want. I'm not going to do anything overboard with Emily anyway, but I want to fire a psi lance now and then without feeling like "I'm playing the game wrong," because that's not how this works.

I just mean for this one fight. If it makes you feel any better, it was probably an order from the top.

And sarcasm aside, I am unofficially the assistant GM. I never attempt to intentionally flaunt that, but there's a reason I help write missions or such. I don't have the ultimate authority to make you do something, nor would I want that (eve zmby wouldn't do that) but usually me and zmby agree on these subjects.

You're free to have your own opinion, the point of that tangent is that if I say something is going to be a certain way, unless zombie tells me no, it's not an order you can flat out ignore.

If it was an order from the top, then Morrigan should've said it, and then we would all know it and it wouldn't need to be repeated over and over.

And Zombie agrees with me a lot too, but I don't try to impose my state of mind into your characters, or Marine's, or Frost's, or anyone else's for that matter. You help write a lot of missions because you have like 20 characters. You can unofficially be whatever you want, but unless Zombie tells you yes, I will use Emily's entire psionic bucket to fill a cup of space coffee if I so desire.

Savage... Do you want me to be official, then? Because ask Zombie, and he'll tell you that we agreed that we shouldn't use psionics, and he'd tell you I'm his second. It was an honest mistake to not outright make that an order

I'm not trying to be elitest or holier than thou or anything. I just honestly thought people realized I am the Riker to Zombie's Picard by now.

He's the GM and can override me at any time, but I have some degree of power, I'm not wielding a nominal title or a toy plasma pistol.

I'm not angry or hostile (I almost never am, as I keep telling people...), I'm just a stickler for rules and chain of command. And I'm not insisting you're nobody, I'm insisting you're a member, just like me and everyone else here. I know you and Zombie are friends, but that doesn't give you speaking power over my characters (unless I'm trying to directly influence yours, as has always been the case)

Okay, then have it straight. Zombie has outright told me I'm his second in command, I'm his subordinate, and like zmby, I prefer to never have to tell other people to do something they wouldn't like.

Gotta run silent for 90 minutes probably, terrible connection here.

Well, I wouldn't mind Zombie telling us that...

And I feel like I have to agree with Dramma a little.

If we want to use Psionics before the fight we should be allowed to, but we have to keep in mind that our characters probably won't be able to do as much awesome stuff in the fight ahead because of it. I know we'd ideally want to save our powers until the main fight, but when you're fighting 10 Sectopods you would expect someone to use some psionics, even if it is just a single psi lance or something small.

Five. And you better not fucking turn this into a witch hunt on zombie. If you poison my attempt at being more clear by giving the tired GM that does all of this for you guys shit, I'm going to get mad.

If you want to blame anyone, blame me. If I'm really so much of an asshole that I shoudlnt be allowed any power, I will step down and never contribute to the story again. And maybe leave. With how everyone has been treating me lately with a few exceptions, I feel more and more like bugging off to my other RP and never coming back.

Alright, alright. Wish the website had warned me ahead of time of this... discussion.

Now... I am... hesitant to say this, have been since the beginning, because I am afraid it implies I do not value everyone's opinion equally... which I do. Everyone's thoughts, plans, ideas, and suggestions are always taken at full face value.

That being said, when it comes to certain aspects of planning, mission design, tough choices I am on the fence about, and so forth, is Gem my second?

The answer is... yes. There are many things I count on him for. Some of the ideas and missions, many of which you have likely praised me for, came largely in part with his assistance.

That being said, as I have insisted, and continue to insist, I listen to everyone's ideas. I have even privately, and even openly, shot down his opinion on a subject for another.

As for the use of psionics: neither of us are saying you should completely hold back. That is why we didn't say no when Desmond lanced that Mectoid or Emily used the illusion. It is more for the sake of a fun fight. I think Frost just put it best. Not every one is going to hold back, but this will result in them not being as awesome in the final fight. Neither I nor Gem want to be the one to stop someone in the middle of a cool attack against Phobos and say 'No, you can't do that. You already did all this in the fight before.'

I... I ask you to hold back so you can do the cool stuff in the main fight, not to control. I just hope you understand, neither Gem or I are trying to control you.

Please, no more fighting. We are near the end, we work so well together. We are such good friends. Don't let this tear us apart.

The answer is... yes.

Thank you. I'll keep this in mind.

No one is "witch hunting" Zombie. He is the GM and if he thinks you are capable of being his "Riker," then we have to accept it. But it's his job to inform us of your role and your power, not for you to just claim it. Because then we all get confused, people start throwing around 'I can do this' and 'you can't do that,' and this happens.

Edited to be constructive...

Here is the issue at hand. Everyone here is a great writer. And a passionate one. So passionate, that people tend to get defensive. And lets face it, at least four of us have openly admitted to being depressed, possibly more of us are, and that contributes to it.

What you all don't seem to see is the big picture, by which I mean, what a wonderful, beautiful thing we have created. How? By working together. Everyone's contribution has been important, and I can't even begin to count the number of times my writing was influenced for the better by one of you.

But... we've been at this for a while now, and we are tired and a bit cranky. We all tend to say things, from time to time, that we don't really mean. In the end though, if we come together, finish these final fights together as a group, we will be able to look back, reread our work, marvel at how much we have all improved, and love our collective work, forgetting all the disagreements we had.

So please, remember, we all respect each other's work, and everyone seems paranoid when they are called out, usually leading to the belief that something said was more personal then it really was. I count on you guys, and I know we can finish this strong if we work together.

This is all going to seem melodramatic, but I've noticed a problem with my image too, and I think I need to address it. I feel like everyone thinks I'm this raging loner asshole, and I don't know why. I mean, I understand Gem thinking that, we fight basically every time we see each other, but that's about it. I've tried to be consistently open, other than around my vacation and my move, and I'd like to think I'm usually pretty friendly and understanding. I do use sarcasm a bit more than I'd like, but usually it's because I'm not great at socializing and I'm trying to be funny or lighten the mood. I'm almost never mad (I raged that one time in the doc like a month ago, but that's it). My real life is a smoldering crater of pain and loneliness and this is what I do in my free time, I have no reason to make it unpleasant. I've spent entire days reading all of your stuff and imagining your characters. I have no animosity towards anyone, and I don't know why anyone would think I do. Maybe it's because my name is shortened to "drama" or something. It certainly fits this diatribe at least. :3

So let me put it in no uncertain terms:

I spend as much if not more time reading what you guys write than I do messages from my real life friends. I am never angry with anyone here. I never intend to insult anyone here. I have no reason to just take a swing at anyone here out of the blue. If I am arguing with you or disagreeing with you, it is because I'm an equal member of this, and I want to have an influence just as much as you. The only thing anyone should take personally from me is that everyone on this forum is my friend.

Even Gem. I feel like we'll understand each other someday, like the Reapers and the Illusive Man.

(see? trying to lighten the mood.)

The last thing I want to happen is for anyone to leave...

You're all my best friends. I'd feel terrible if Gemi left...

But the internet makes it sound like we are a lot more aggressive than we actually mean. I know all of us are having a hard time in life right now and probably think that everyone is against us, but here, everyone cares about you and wants you to stay. I would absolutely never say something malicious against anyone on here, and I'm sure Dramma feels the same. I'm sorry Gemi... But I promise I wasn't mad at anyone. It was just a misunderstanding.

Yeah... I'm just going to... Not say anything here. I don't have anything else to add,
You're all right. I'm just apparently adept and alienating everyone from myself.

I don't think there's any more telling proof of that than the fact that Adramma seems to think I view him as an enemy or something...

I mean, don't you? I said that thing about bringing Morrigan in yesterday and you immediately assumed I was being an asshole. And then I told you I didn't mean it like that...and you called me an asshole again.

Look, hate me for this or not, it is time for some tough love. It is alright for you to admit you are in the wrong but please...for fuck sake stop saying shot like that. It is exactly the reason why you are negative sometimes. We were all in the wrong, stuff was debated about so let's get the fuck over it! I sit here reading all this and wish I could get some of you in a room and just smack you to make you see how stupid you are being. Stop blaming yourself and stand up saying, Alright, I made a mistake and it is in the past. You know how much I hold onto shit and look where I am. So please, do us a favor and just man up. Yeah, we may have been a bit overboard and we admitted that, so stop blaming yourself for every little argument! Pisses me off how much you blame yourself when you really shouldn't. That goes for all of you as well. I hear enough whining assholes at school, I don't need you guys blaming yourselves for stupid shit.
