When they finally reached the town they found themselves walking up a long dirt road. They were two-story thatched roof houses on both sides of the street, but other than that the road was surprisingly empty.
"Where do you think everyone is?" Ammy asked looking up at her sister.
"'Eh dun't 'ow... You'd 'ink 'ere'd be someone en' th' street 'is 'ime eh' day." Mary answered, the position of the sun showing her that it was about noon.
"Wait... There's someone..." Ammy said, using her hoof to point to a pony walking down the street in their direction. It had a bright pink body with a darker, almost salmon pink, curly mane and tail. On both of her upper back legs was a symbol of three balloons, two blue, one yellow. She had a soft smile as she walked closer and closer to the two.
Ammelia waved at the bright pnik pony with a friendly smile. "Hello, there."
The pony jumped back letting out an exaggerated gasp, her head looking back and forth between Mary and Ammelia rapidly as she talked without even stopping to catch her breath. "Ooohmygoshohmygoshohmygoooosh!! I've never seen you two around here before and that must mean you're new here because I know everypony in ponyville and I know all their birthdays and their anniversaries and their favorite foods! Hello my name is Pinkamena Diane Pie but you can just call be Pinkie Pie cause Pinkamena is kinda long and boring and not very fun but I still like it 'cause my parents gave me that name and because I love my parents I also love the name but it's just soooo long and people forget what it is sometimes so I just go by Pinkie because it's short and sweet like a delicious chocolate cake with a cherry on top, covered in whipped cream and yummy icing, you know!?"
Mary and Ammelia's eyes widened as they both looked at the hyper pony. "Uh... It's nice to meet you too... My name's Ammelia, and this is Mary."
"Heeeeey, those are pretty unique names you got there! I guess that means you two are really, really not from around here, huh? But that's okay because you're here now and everypony here is my friend! You two want to be my friends right!?" She asked excitedly.
Ammy looked over to her sister, then back at Pinkie, "Uh... Sure..."
The pink pony brought them both in for a hug, "Ohmygosh! We're going to be the best of friends! Oh wait, hang on a second you guys!" She said running behind one of the houses and pushing out a pink pull cart with a few gold and light blue accents. The cart also had three balloons on both sides, two were blue, while one was gold, just like the symbol on her upper back legs, it looked very stylish. "Thiiiiis, is my 'Welcome to Ponyville' cart! It even comes with a song and everything! Here, let me start!"
She pressed a large red button on the side of the cart and it sprung to life, golden horns and flags popping out of the inside of it and playing a catchy little upbeat melody as she started to sing. "Welcome, Welcome, Welcome, a fine welcome to you! Welcome, Welcome, Welcome, I say how do you do? Welcome, Welcome, Welcome, I say Hip-Hip Horay! Welcome, Welcome, Welcome to Ponyville Todaaaaaaaay!" As she finished she slid across the dirt road towards them on her knees with her front legs in both direction in a welcoming gesture.
"Well, that was...nice." Ammelia replied, smiling.
"Waaaait for it..." Pinkie said as a door on the front of the cart swung open, revealing a slice of what appeared to be a strawberry and vanilla cake and multicolored confetti shot out from the top. Pinkie looked at it, almost as if she expected something else to happen, "Whew..." she said with relief, "I didn't put the cake in the confetti cannons this time!"
"Mmm" Mary salivated, "Eh... can eh' 'ave that?"
"Of course you can, silly! I didn't make so you couldn't eat it, that'd just be weird! I don't bake cakes just to look at them, I bake them so my friends can revel in thier sweet, fluffy, deliciousness, and you two are both my super awesome bestest friends now!"
"Well, Thanks Pinkie Pie..." Ammelia said with a friendly tone, "So... Where is everyone today? Your town isn't always this empty I take it?"
"Well, you'd be right! It isn't normally like this, it's usually all hustle-ly and bustle-ly, but today is a super duper special day!" She with a extremely bright smile.
"Why? What's going on today?" Ammelia said as Mary walked up to the cart, trying to figure out how to eat the cake with no plate or fingers.
"You don't know?! Wowee! You two much be really, crazy, far out of town if you don't know what today is! That's how important!"
"I guess we've... Just been living under a rock I guess." Ammelia replied, trying to be convincing but in all honesty didn't know why a pony in her own weird pony dream expected her to know these things.
"You've been living under a rock!? Wow! You should meet my sister then, she loves rocks! In fact, she's getting her rock-terate in rock science!"
"Wait, rock science? So she's a geologist?" Ammelia confirmed, tilting her head.
"Yup, Yup, Yup! But geologist just sounds so boring, I just prefer rock scientist! She's super good at it too, she should be though, considering the fact that me and her spent our entire childhoods around rocks! Our family was all rock farmers you know!" Pinkie said, tilting her head to the side and making a obviously fake bored face.
"Rock Farmers?" Ammy thought out loud. How does one go about farming rocks?
Pinkie busted out in a chuckle, rolling around on the floor, "With a shovel, duh!"
The sniper-pony's eyes widened, "Wait did you just..."
"Well, Anyway!" Pinkie interrupted her question, "I guess I should probably tell you what's going on today if you don't know! Ponyville placed first in the Equestria Games, everyone's at Twilight's house celebrating! I'm handing out the invites! I mean, Twilight told me that I didn't need invites because everyone in ponyville was going to be invited anyway, but invites are how serious parties are thrown, and all my parties have to be absolutely one-hundred and ten percent serious! You'll have the time of your life or you're money back garranteed! Well, I don't make them pay anything to come, but if they did pay something, then you'd be sure they'd get their money back garranteed! Good thing I always, always, allllways, bring an extra fifty-two point two invites just in case fifty-two point two new ponies show up that day!" She said, pulling out two invites from somewhere behind her with her mouth and giving them to Ammelia. "Here you are! Two tickets to the superiest duperiest party in Ponyville, I'll even take you there myself! You'll be my special guest and you'll get to play special guest games with all the ponies there, doesn't that sound fun!?"
The Equestria Games? Best not to ask what that is too, It sure sounds like It's a big thing around here. "Yeah, that does sound fun! I'll be happy to come." Ammelia agreed, grabbing the invites using the only thing she had available, her teeth.
"Okee Dokey Loki! Let's go then! When we get there, I'll introduce you to all my friends! Maybe we'll even see them on the way there, wouldn't that be amazing!?" Pinkie said as she turned around, hopping off down the street.
Ammy waited till she was out of earshot before speaking to Mary, being forced to drop the papers on top of pinkie's cart in order to speak. "Well... She sure is... Energetic."
Mary stood over the peice of cake, not even bothering to try and pick it up anymore and simply eating it straight off the plate as the cart was just about the same height as her mouth. "Yeh', she's 'efinetily 'ot th' same 'inkie pie eh' 'ow from my 'ears of 'atch'in my 'ittle pony as eh' kid."
Ammy gave her sister a curious look, using the pink cart to hold the invations and pushing it forward so she could continue talking to her sister.
"You watched my little pony as a kid?"
"Eh' 'as eh' 'ittle 'irl, 'at de' ye' 'spect?"
"Just a little hard to picture is all." Ammelia answered, "So do you know anything about this place?"
"'Ext te' noth'in eh'm 'fraid, 'ike eh' said, 'is place es' 'ot 'ike th' MLP eh' 'member."
"Well, lets go to this party then. We can find out more about where we are, and it'd be very rude is we just denied her invite now."
"Yeh', 'ood eh'dea..."
