Part two incoming. Hold your stallions, ladies and gentlemen.

Read the entire post before you call it an 'arc.'It's a Time Travel Arc... Well, I guess if every Sci Fi story has to have one... And who knows... They can be good sometimes.
Read the entire post before you call it an 'arc.'
I did... And... Call me the odd man out here... but I sorta didn't like it... Especially the part where she fades out at the end...
So that future didn't happen? Guess that means we won, bye tension...
(God I feel like such an asshole for saying that, but I want to be honest.)
I'm gonna let zombie explain this. And you're allowed to say your opinion, just as I'm allowed to give my own in that form. And here come the negative votes... I'm sorry... I don't like saying that I didn't like it because I know how much work you put into it... But If I were in your shoes I'd want people to be honest with me...
Letting Zmby explain it... be patient, please.I'm not saying I didn't like how the posts were written. Not at all. (Except for maybe that vanishing part)
I'm just saying that I didn't really like the general idea...
Doesn't mean we won. Just means that future didn't happen. We can still lose, considering the last post.I did... And... Call me the odd man out here... but I sorta didn't like it... Especially the part where she fades out at the end...

And you are entitled to you opinion. If you didn't like it, that's fine. And here come the negative votes... I'm sorry... I don't like saying that I didn't like it because I know how much work you put into it... But If I were in your shoes I'd want people to be honest with me...

The reason I did it is to respond to the fact that, in all fairness, the aliens could have slaughtered X-COM at any time, which is something I never really got in the original, since the Temple ship is implied to have been on Earth for a while.
This is the result. And the cold, hard truth is, if the aliens wanted to kill X-COM, they could.
The time traveling thing is completely, totally, and 100% my idea, though I asked for Gem's contribution a few days ago. I felt it would be an interesting alternate look into a world in which X-COM loses, something I kind did in a single dream post in season three, though at a slightly larger scale.
And it sets up for the rest of the story. I understand if you don't care for it. I know this kind of thing isn't for everyone. But I thought it would be a cool idea.
But, X-COM hasn't one yet. The aliens now think they are dead, which gives them something of an advantage, but as large as Acedia's ship is, it won't be enough. However, I believe X-COM will soon find a certain someone's ship is in orbit right now, and maybe, if we nab that...
We're facing a superior foe, Frost. The sense of 'suspense and drama' you're looking for would be impossible if we could pretend like we were invincible. Fact is, the fleet came in like lightning originally and wiped us out. And not everyone died, some people managed to escape, but a good 80% of the staff died. Desmond and others perished as the resistance started to fail, and our New York base fell as well.I liked the future posts in season three because, well, it was a dream. None of that actually happened and it was cool to see...
But future stuff actually affecting the real world... Doesn't sit right with me... Also, you'd think Morrigan would have some sort of plan in case they have a nuke-like device, or some way to be able to detect them before they got into range, but nope, everyone died.
Anyways, I rest my case. I trust that Zombie and all of us can do something great off this idea, and, hopefully it will grow on me with time.
And we will, Frost. Give it time, and you'll love it.I liked the future posts in season three because, well, it was a dream. None of that actually happened and it was cool to see...

Except the survivors managed to endure and give us a second chance. And WE did deal with it. None of those people in that post were new characters. All the sacrifices we made in future and past lead to a second chance. Come on, Frost. Be more open minded. You're not listening to what I'm saying in its entirety, and thus far you haven't given me a single arguement I can't dismiss. One more thing before I shut up about this.
I Don't want to pretend like we're invincible, I just didn't think this was the way to show that we weren't. I mean, we should know that we aren't, we have over forty casualties after all. I just wanted us to detect them and us to deal with it. X-Com is about showing the strength the humanity has when it stands together against it's foes. Maybe that is too optimisitic of me, but forgive me for not liking the fact that after all of this, everything we fought for and all the people we lost, that we inevitably accomplished nothing and we all died anyway.

So either prove me wrong, or at least try to look at this objectively. Because right now you're not being entirely fair, and you keep saying "I don't want to talk about this anymore" to hide that you are unable to come up with a concrete reason for not liking it. Which means you might end up liking it if you just let yourself, so please... try and let yourself. If you still hate it, that's fine... but you're clearly not trying.
