While we're all gestating in our hype, I though I'd ask everyone a question (primarily the peeps from last season, but if you new people have something like this outside of here you may provide that). For context, I was suffering from a lack of creativity for my -1 posts, so I went back to my old stuff to remember how to write. My question is this: of the many, many things the old people wrote for SoD, and of the various writings you new people have done, what would you all say is the one you are most proud of? Taking me, I'd say I'm (somewhat ironically) most proud of the solo mission I did parallel to the Superbia mission, the one where Samuel met with a terrible fate, especially since I cranked that out with very little planning and in one night. Reading it back made me curious as to whether any of you have a similar source of pride, that one thing that sticks out for you, one that you can sit back and say "I regret nothing" about. You should, if you don't.

I would say for me it was, writing the relationship between Eva and Jean that was the most fun I had with Zombie. And runner up is the fight seans with Eva that was extremely fun to write.

Ah, it has to be a top three for me, there's simply so much last season I loved.
  1. The Temple Ship Dogfight: I'm a big aviation nerd, comes with where I live and the videojuegos I've played over the years, though historically I've always had trouble writing dogfights. But this one? It came out wunderbar. I'd say it's my magnum opus for SoD, but that honor goes to something else, even though this is my favorite bit of writing in SoD.
  2. The Angel of Despair/Desperatio fights: My babies finally got their chance to shine. That's the long and short of it. Nearly killed a couple people, which was more than I expected; made a ton of MGR references; and Desperatio exploded. All in all, a blast to write, and it's a point of personal pride for reasons I won't really go into here.
  3. Albert's Covert Op: This. Even though it's third in my list, I still feel this mission is my magnum opus. It's the longest single piece of fiction I've written, full stop. Hell, it still holds the record for longest solo work in SoD (though it lost out on longest work in general to the Phobos mission). It touched on some very controversial subjects, Quintero sticks out in my mind as one of my favorite one-shot NPCs, and all in all it was a trying, almost religious experience to finish. I love it.
Anyways, those are my favorite pieces I've written in SoD.

The Acedia Ethereal mission. I was so proud of how well I put that together I showed my mom who is an avid reader (Of romance novels, but you have to take what you can get.) and she said she loved it. I'm also happy that I didn't have Ammy call Morrigan about permission to let Acedia go free, it made the scene a lot more tense and added the risk of having Ammy removed by the counsel, which made the conflict she was going through much more interesting. Also, by sparing Acedia, Zombie was able to put together a really well done redemption story for her, which was only made possible by Ammy taking that choice, a choice, might I add, that would've been much easier had all of your characters not helped her overcome her hatred of psionics. What I'm getting at here is that all of you helped Ammelia make that choice, and in turn, helped that post become one of my favorites.

My Honorable mentions would have to be when Ammy confronted her father about his secret project. I was proud that I managed to still make David seem like a good guy by believing that it would save his daughter's life.

And finally Anna's finale from season 3, where my sub-par writing ability at the time actually managed to create an amazing and heartfelt goodbye for my first character while also giving Ayame the ultimate decision Mass Effect style to decide the fate of her best friend.

The story thread will be going up at 8 or 9 Central Time. As we did with the bios, we'll be posting in order to keep it neat (though I can guarantee we won't have to do this for normal solos and collaborations as long as they don't interrupt eachother, so don't worry about that). All I need from you is to post your biographies when you are called upon. If one of yours isn't ready just tell me you'll pass for now.

Most of the intros will be posted on June 27th. The only ones that will be going up this evening are Zmby's, mine, and maybe Marine's. Everyone else gets until tomorrow. (And I'll probably give the Old World people first dibs in the morning so they don't have to worry about waiting on everyone else to wake up.)
Uh but UK time... and I'm out like all afternoon... the struggle, it's so reallllllllllll lol I'll try and get wifi :D

Provided the first three go up this evening, this is pretty much the list for posting week -1. If you don't think you're going to be finished come tomorrow morning, tell me now so I can rearrange the list. (Mostly the same as the bios order, and its done based on the order I order people in my head, nothing more.)

Old Guard

  1. Adrammalech
  2. Frostlich1228
  3. Dahlexpert
  4. BMPixy
  5. Taxor_the_First

New Guard (Keep in mind since mot of these people have one main character each it'll probably just be first come first serve for you guys, all that you need to keep in mind is to let the old guard that are finished get theirs up first.)

Better?

Ideal posting order for the 27th:

  1. Adrammalech
  2. Frostlich1228
  3. Dahlexpert
  4. BMPixy
  5. Taxor_the_First
  6. Mangrale
  7. Black0ut
  8. Zain Shah
  9. PrismaCube
  10. Euan
  11. Alzdude28
And remember this is just to make sure the initial posts go up in an orderly fashion. After this, there'll obviously not be any restrictions to posting order or the like.
