ShadowHounder and Black0ut: The Sad Truth Part 2
"We've both been through hell..." The young Cartus remarked solemnly. "When you are trying to deal with the demons of your past... It is often easy to forget that others have had fates very similar to yours. How about this; you tell me why you ended up this way and I'll tell you how I ended up in my own position. Fair trade?"
"I can already tell what happened to you by looking at you. To anyone who knows graft points, yours are off slightly, meaning you either had a shitty surgeon, or they were forced on you. Given that you're guarded, the latter is more obvious. And when we met, you were scared of me. If you were just a normal person, you'd have tried to turn it to rage and add some more emotion to your lie. You ran instead and stealthed. Only reason you'd do that is if something happened in your early life. Seeing as you're a Cartus, bad parents was my first thoughts, but how would you justify the cybernetics unless you were forced to get them by someone who owned you." Nick took a step back, turning away from her.
"You arrogant piece of shit!" Yip snapped, the anger consuming her every fiber. "My mother risked her life every day to make sure I was able to live! She sacrificed everything! You talk as if all the knowledge of the world is open to you, but you will never know what it is like to live as a slave!"
A gun barrel poked her cheek, Nick's eyes aflame with anger. "And have you lost all your childhood friends? Did you watch as their bodies were torn apart and made into paste? Do you get to hear their screams every night, asking why you lived when they died? No? Then shut the fuck up." The barrel removed itself from her cheek before transforming back. "Get out of the holoroom. I still have it for twenty minutes and I'd rather not have to deal with your bullshit."
Yip sat in silence... Trying her best to not fall into the pits of depression. As she walked towards the exit, the only words she muttered were. "Yes I did..." The endless screams that her voice blended inside echoing through her head.
"Until you've been intimate with several of your friends' guts, I don't want to hear it." Nick growled, still livid. "Out. Now, infiltrator."
"While I'm gone... Ask yourself this..." Yip stated as the door opened in front of her. "What makes your fate any different from the life that a slave lives?" Before Nick had the time to respond, the assassin activated her cloak and left the room without any further discussion.
