"So I've been meaning to do another log again for a couple of days, and why not now?
Heh... thankfully smoking is still allowed. I couldn't take what I used to take here so smoking seems to have replaced it, And currently its working well somehow...heh even if it is swapping one sin for another as others might say. Also bureaucracy strikes again, some of the suits manged to get my personal belongings since i couldn't bring any of my stuff being arrested and all. However they brought some stupid stuff into the base, currently out side my room I have a large HIFI that the suits decided to bring instead of practical stuff like any of my guns, or a large chunk of my clothes. However clothes wise I have enough to live with and ill probably set up the Sound system in the bar where it will actually get some use.
The last couple of days have been interesting as a whole. just after I finished my last log I ended up meeting my bunk mates, they're an interesting bunch to say the least. The high up German officer that is Colin, Axton the merc, the sword fighting bible basher Aaron, the ex apple tech support employee Stevie, and Big Farmer, or at least that's what the giant calls himself. I honestly wonder how he doesn't break the bed back in the rooms. As combat experience goes, everyone apart from Stevie and me has had a combat experience or a military career. I admit they are nice to be around even if they can be naive and sickeningly optimistic, the only one who seems to a thinking somewhat realistically about the aliens is Aaron.
I've also managed to get round to watching the footage of the previous missions, there's not much to say on the whole other than despite the aliens not understanding the concept of explosives or body armour, and that Xcom loves to give troops weapons that leave fist sized holes in everything (I mean did you see that graveyard mission, was the objective to save Lt hardass and give every grave a piercing?),the aliens still manged to wound quite a few already as well one killing one. Apparently space paddy was his name, I don't really have anything to say about that apart from bad luck, sometimes you do everything right and a shot will still connect.
On that note there was somethings their that interested me, have you noticed how those 'sectiods' have their weapons strapped to their arms. It reminds me of a gun we were contracted to build for testing, There's a lot to say about the gun but all that's relevant was that the gun failed testing because of two major flaws. The first is that since its strapped to your arm, firing the dam thing would mean all the recoil of the gun travels down your arm instead of straight into your shoulder, so firing for an extended period of time isn't going to happen. Period.
Secondly the gun was as awkward as fuck trying to reload. Basically what i'm trying to say is that these aliens have gun that as far as I know has jack all recoil and Don't need to reload.we are screwed when it comes to equipment, and we're going to be completely fucked if the aliens ever discover the wonder of adding body armour or high explosives to to their checklist.
*cough*...ahem, well on a lighter note I've manged to see who else in on base. First one to mention is Lt hardass, or Zhang as i'm supposed to call him. For some reason he is sleeping in the rec room, not sure why but it fucks up my plans for midnight gaming.
Then there's that small, skittish Chinese girl, who I've heard is insanely good when it comes shit involving sword fights and the like, but is lacking when it comes to using guns. Name's Ayame apparently. I should really talk to her, after all we can learn from each other, well that's assuming she doesn't flee through the corridors in a towel like earlier today. There is also that girl from the combat log in the hospital so it might be worth seeing here as well.
John signing off for now. I'll suppose i'll start set up that HIFI and find something else to do, someone must have a card game or something set up somewhere, right?."
