Decided that since this is a thing, I might as well do one, but in a commentary style rather than the simple line by line as seen before. Let's see how this turns out. Note, I did do this live.
First thing of note is that Saka breaks Desperatio's nose, all over a basket of bread. Will this be a sign of things to come? Apparently yes, because shortly afterwards Desmond tricks Emily into killing Ashley, and Elene murders Sunny with a poison dart. This is followed shortly by Morrigan overpowering Modya and killing him. We haven't even left the cornucopia, and we've already got three deaths.
And with the start of the first day, we've got Saka beating up Jake but sparing him, and our two snipers (Ammelia and Fay) working together for some nefarious purpose. After this, we show that perhaps Morrigan shouldn't be trusted with high explosives, as she kills Albert, Jiokjiok, Elene, and Mary with one well placed bomb. Also of note is that Desperatio nails Jessica in the neck with a poison dart, proving that even though they don't talk, the Ethereal has some mighty lung strength. And at the end of the first day, eight of our twenty-four contestants are now dead.
Nothing of note happens the first night, and the same is for the rest of the second day, though Desmond decides that the best thing to do in potential hostile territory is to sleep for the entire day. Professional ninja, people! However, the second night is much more exciting, as our Insane Irishwoman and Silent Sniper team up to fight our Psycho Scarlet and the fan favorite, Atka. After a brutal battle, Morrigan and Fay prove triumphant. Dallas accidently eats some poison berries, and Morrigan's victory high proves short lived as Brigid falls ill from some bad water.
On the third day, we have a couple of fights that result in no deaths, but with only thirteen contestants left, the arena is getting a bit sparse. How long this tentative peace lasts is anybody's guess. Three cannon shots mark the passing of Atka and Dallas. Oh, and Scarlet, of course.
The night of the third day passes uneventfully, but the fourth day starts off with a battle of the husbandos, as Jake ambushes Marcus. The teenager proves that youth beats everything, and murders Marcus. Shortly afterwards, Desmond murders Ammelia with a hatchet, proving it takes a ninja to murder a blind girl. Also of note is that Emily assault Morrigan, but the Commander beats a hasty tactical advance in the other direction. Two more cannon shots, two less people in this world.
During the fourth night, Emily does the seemingly impossible, and sneaks up on Desmond while he is sleeping, and she kills him. Professional ninja, people. During the fifth day, Fay tries to climb a tree, but then remembers that she was trained for urban environments, and falls to her death. Later, Brigid proves that her mother trained her well, and poisons Desperatio's food, killing the Ethereal and ensuring that I have nobody left to bet on. Stone cold.
Fifth night passes quietly, as is the norm. The same could be said of the sixth day, however Emily temporarily forgets that she is Amelia and not Ammelia, and fails to spot a pit, which proves to be her death.
And for the first time all session, on the sixth night, Bradford does something useful, protecting Jake from Brigid, in the process killing the commander's daughter, who if you recall is also sick. Rumor has it that the first thing he says afterwards is that his chances of getting a raise is abysmal now. Instead, he gets a promotion, as Saka stabs Morrigan in the back with a trident, ending the redhead's murder spree.
On the seventh day, Jake proves that he has just a bit of Shinji in him, and begs for Bradford to kill him. The Central Officer mulls over the decision, but decides that it isn't worth it. And with the end of the seventh day, we're down to our final five. Also of note is that Morrigan is responsible for seven of the deaths here, thereby putting her in a close second with Albert for the number of deaths on their hands. ...too soon?
On the seventh night, Charles, Saka, and Bradford get into a fight. The professional ninja takes a page out of the Joestar book and legs it, as the aging scientist brutalizes his new commanding officer. Without the rational mind of the deceased officer, Jake wanders off, falls in a pit, and dies. Penny, seeing the fire illuminating these events, decides the best course of action is to hide.
On the eigth day, Charles decides that he's had enough, and tries to escape. Punishment is swift and probably violates the Geneva Conventions. Penny tries to chase after the only remaining survivor, Saka, but the ninja proves elusive. Who knew.
However, on the final climatic eighth day, we have a climatic showdown between the coddled scientist Penny, and the far-too-genki-to-be-healthy ninja Saka. Rain falls, thunder strikes, and Penny nails Saka in the back of the head with an arrow from the cover of the trees as the latter munches on some berries.
And with that, we have our winner: Penny. The only person I less expected to win was Sunny. In kill ranks, we have Morrigan at the top with seven kills, tied for second is Emily and Fay with two kills a piece, and lastly we have Charles, Penny, Elene, Bradford, Desperatio, Jake, Brigid, Desmond, and Saka all tied for third with one kill a piece. With that, BMPixy, signing off.
