Another thing, I loved the three posts you guys put out today. :D

We're going to miss you Dessy :'(

Hopefully he'll stay a little longer to see Ammy get her eyes. They are good friends after all. :)

And, figure I might as well post this now, but I'll be leaving Saturday open as my official collaboration day, as I am currently working through a veritable mountain of finals-related homework, thus making me quite unavailable for the next week or so. If any of you wish to have any last goodbyes, abschiede, wakare, ibyeol, or despedidas with Albert or Fay, mark that day down.

One of the hardest parts of concluding a journey is saying goodbye. Farewell is a Bittersweet Word, starring Atka and her squad and Modya and the rocketeers. (Might extend it with Modya and Atka saying goodbye to one another, but I'll do that later.)

And when everyone is ready this evening we'll do Ammelia waking up. Zombie, Marine, and Ramma if they can make it since I know characters they own that would come. Anyone else that wants to is free to, though I doubt Al or Fay have any interest in being there.

Be home around 8:30. Can't stay too long. I have a long day tomorrow (and Sunday... and Monday), but I can write long enough for Jessie and Sunny to give Ammelia their best.

Na i'm gonna sit this one out, manly because it makes no since for Ashley or Eva to go. Ashley is working on the other soldiers geting them out of the med bay. And Eva, she's so injured she can't even move so sorry frost I won't be joining you. But it should be a good read though.

Why would Ashley be helping people out of the med bay? We have enough doctors and they wouldn't just let her with patients...that is sort of unprofessional, don't you think?

Post one out of the way.

Also, here's some behind the scenes stuff some of you may find interesting:
Hints and Misdirections

Hint 1: I only had 4 potential candidates for the position. One of those candidates was the father of the person the Overseer wanted kept safe. I can see two twos here. Can you put them together? Plus, the deal itself was more equal than Morrigan would have initially realized – if you look at it, it boils down to “you protect my daughter, I’ll protect yours”.

Hint 2: The mask subplot. Especially…

“She hasn’t seen an Ethereal yet, and she was going to look at the footage from the attack on your base when she got a spare moment. She won’t like what she finds. Just anticipate that.”

Morrigan frowned. “Does this have anything to do with that mask we were having her look at?”

Nuff said.

Hint 3: Overseer’s 3rd report. This is actually kinda embarrassing, as it’s something I really wish I’d thought of at the very beginning. Usually, when I’m posting something, I scroll through quickly and see what mistakes I’ve made. Usually, it’s just the transition from Aussie English in Microsoft Word to ‘Murrican English on the site, and, usually, I correct everything so that you people don’t get anal about it. Even if you didn’t, I know those that actually noticed it would find it grating after a while. However, for this report, I intentionally didn’t do that, so that all the words in it were using Aussie spelling (e.g.: We say “colour” instead of “color”. Little stuff). Since, you know, Isaac’s Aussie. It was super subtle, and I’m upset I didn’t think of it before.

Hint 4: Agent One being a thing and being described as occasionally speaking for the Overseer. Plus, he knew a disturbing amount of info about the alien base attack on X-COM. Implies he is the Overseer. Since he was later revealed to be Isaac… Guys. The dots. Go join them.

... Yes, I did have 3 characters that were actually 1.

Hint 5: During the Superbia mission Epilogue, Isaac demonstrated quite the knowledge of X-COM, on par, roughly, with the Overseer. The reveal was supposed to be the next day, which is why I (and Zombie, who knew because I said I wanted the Overseer there and then began writing for Isaac) made it so obvious, but then storm happened for which I did not receive power again until the Friday afternoon, about 4 days post storm. Which was partially the reason the reveal may have read like it was rushed – because it was. I was literally about 5 minutes from running out of battery when we finished that. Resulted in a reveal I feel I could have done a lot better, but was necessary because we were rapidly approaching the event horizon that was the finale.

Misdirection 1: Penny shrugged. “Not my fault that I have an overzealous and overprotective godmother.”

This was actually the first time I made a comment regarding the Overseer’s identity, and at one point it was true.

Misdirection 2: Isaac scowled, his mouth visible in the opening in his mask. “I told Mar-“

“You told the Overseer to send no one,” Samuel interrupted.

Further building on the first misdirection, part of the old Overseer’s name. There was also female pronouns used earlier in that same post, which Zombie picked up on and immediately called out as implying there were multiple Overseers. Misdirection, hence, failed miserably.

Misdirection 3: “If [Isaac]’s alive, where is he now?”

One made a pschtt noise. “Went gallivanting off to Columbia. I think he found a lead on his pet project.”

Since One was implied to be the Overseer by “speaking for them”, thus places Isaac and One in different locations, therefore not conveying the impression that Isaac is One (That sentence took me about half an hour to muddle through). The fact that Isaac himself said this determines that was a lie.

Misdirection 4:

“Tell the Overseer she can come over here and do it herself.”

Further building on the fallacy that the Overseer was female and therefore not Isaac.

Misdirection 5:

When they were leaving, I remember Maria saying she’d watch over me for the rest of my life, and make sure no harm came to me. I only realized a few years ago how serious she was about that…

Heavily implicating Maria was the Overseer, but I didn’t make a huge fuss about it, IC or OOC. Of course, that could have been me just waiting to see who actually reads my posts, but I’m not actually that insecure…
…am I?

Random other things:

· 3rd Overseer report also contained a reference to sending agents into Australia and Africa. Was part of my original plan to have an “Overseer vs Overseer” thing occur, eventually resulting in me missing my allotted mission and instead writing the one where Samuel died (a moment of silence, please). Still, the set up was real. As was… something else in that report that wasn’t me.

· “Going to leave a mark, too.”

Isaac shook his head. “Of course someone would go for my face with a knife when I’m not using my usual mask.”

Was initially a set-up for the above set-up. The plan was for Samuel to die, and Isaac to remove his headwear, thus revealing the scar to the X-COM soldiers, who’d think nothing of it. Example of dramatic irony, yadda yadda yadda. Go write an essay on it now.

· “Not liking the names I’m seeing here. I can confirm the Triad connection – we’ve got a go-between called Zhang –“

“Not our mutual friend, comrade Zhang?”

Since we sorta abandoned the extra campaign things, I thought it’d be interesting to bring Zhang back up. Kinda sad we did that actually, would have liked to go on with Progeny. Oh well. Gangplank 2.0 happened, after all.

· My Innermost Apocalypse is the title of the track that plays in the original Binding of Isaac when you fight Isaac. In that battle, it’s very much possible for the intro thing to show “Isaac vs Isaac”, which is what that particular series of posts was leading to. I kinda wish I’d started that earlier too, space it out over the course of the entire RP. Then – Surprise Muddafaker! – major plot point.

· I’d been wanting to use the title The Binding of Isaac since I introduced him. So when I decided he was the Overseer, I immediately knew which post I was going to use it for.

· Originally only Samantha and Isaac were going to survive the fight with Minos. Since that means Raider would have died rather than played dead, Isaac would have shot the device with Gazer’s pistol, specifically the button Minos had pressed earlier to drain the civvies. He himself would then have been drained, and he would have suffered the same fate as those he’d killed to empower himself. But then Zombie casually mentioned not wanting to see too many of them die (this is before I gave it to him to review) and I thought “Yeah, I should probably not chuck a Pixy.” So I decided to save the two I liked best, resulting in the “Raider MVP” moment you saw.

· On the subject of the Tribe, actually, each and every member of that group is based on the various Hunters that appeared in the Metroid Prime series. You get points if you guess who’s who. Today’s post name should give you a hint at least to one of them.

· Every single traitor mentioned in the Overseer’s reports were named after traitors in various game series. Off the top of my head I can think of Arterius (Saren from ME1), Sullivan (Dead Rising 2) and Hector (from a game series I… frequent. I’d say which, but it was only revealed a few weeks ago, so…). Additionally I’d like to mention that the Lester Isaac is hunting has nothing to do with GTA’s Lester, in case anyone had made that connection.

· Samuel Yokolov had quite the rivalry with one of Pixy’s characters that I meant to reference at some point and completely forgot to do.

· Samuel and Isaac’s methods of combat are both based on how I usually end up playing Payday – either run in with an assault rifle and shotgun, or a sniper rifle and pistol. I usually die more with the first build, but damn does it feel badass.

· I still haven’t explained why Isaac had an Ethereal mask. Whoops.

Finally, a request, can we put the memorial up somewhere at some point? I'd like to have that available somewhere on here.

Considering Raider was probably my favorite assistant to the Overseer, that's always a good choice.

I have a memorial wall on the main document, but I figure I'll put it up on the rules now that no one else is going to die in the war since the war is over, and XCOM has become the XSDF.
