Since everyone has been posting nightmarish stuff, Emily had a nightmare.

It's all your fault.
I like Gemini's posts, but somehow yours put the worst chill down my spine. I guess because it is more relatable, since it doesn't involve aliens. I don't know. All I know is it made my stomach churn.

Not to say that Gemini's aren't chilling. The gore and violence are disheartening, but I think the worst of it is a lack of humanity in the aliens. Shows a negative side to the advancement of technology, where a race of people care little for the lives of others. Not that I'm about to throw my phone, my computer, or my Wii U away anytime soon, mind you...

It hits you more if you believe in innate good.

It also hits you more if you can think about nothing but the sound that your headphones make when you plug them in invading your brain while you read "inputs at the top of the head."

I'm not sure I necessarily believe in an 'innate good'. I realize that, with concepts of survival of the fitest, it is likely instinctual to be selfish and harsh to outsiders. I just believe one of the defining features of a civilized people is the understanding that we are not bound by these instincts if we are intelligent enough to move past them, and happiness and prosperity comes from collaboration with others, not hostility with them. But, that's me. I'm something of a humanitarian, for better or for worse.

I do, because humans are a social species and just general optimism. If I didn't believe it, I'd be innately depressed. That'd be a bummer.

Aliens would be immune to that reasoning anyway, unless they were humans in disguise. PLOT TWIST

One of my last posts, an update for the Commander, mentioned that Lt. Brea decided that, because of her performance as of late, if Nika wanted, she could get a double promotion. In otherwards, if you want to keep her behind the others, you can, but if you want her to catch up after being held back, you can do that too.

I didn't even think of that. Scary.

How do you think it feels for me to write those? I agree with you about the 'having to believe in the good of humanity or suffer depression', as that's sort of how I think. That's one of the things that gets me the most about the abductee posts. The lack of hope for humanity, and the inhuman, callous way they are treated. They're treated like cattle, and it eerily parallels the way the native americans were treated by the colonists across the Americas when we first arrived. If not the technology, at least the disregard for human life, treating people as subhuman.

I read it and spaced out on the last name. She can move up now. The only reason I wanted her held back was for the Support/Heavy bait-and-switch.

I didn't even think of that.

This is why I don't watch horror movies.

Wrong, they're treating them as normal humans. It's just that the way they perceive humans is... I dunno, sub-Ethereal? Maybe?

It's something we'll probably have to face one day. We're spacefaring and we find a perfect garden world inhabited by 1700s-1800s Africa-level tribes of some other species. Where's the line drawn? It all depends on Mecha-Obama-Clone...hope and rockets.

I love the apathetic look on her face. I have that look on my face 90% of the time.

By the way, I've put up a new small piece about three of my characters. Tak a look at it when you have a sec.

More or less the entire Exalt crew. (With the exception of the handmaidens and Eva as no pics for them)
