Got a short solo up. Just a little something with two of my youngest characters. Little foreshadowing. Enjoy.
People on that base are horny as f**k?I hope everyone noticed the overall theme here, because it was a lot of fun to write.
To be fair, it was part of around half of the posts. And I'm not being hostile, I just make fun of it because it was uncomfortable, and humans remove awkwardness with humor. You're really hung up on that.

Though I do think it was an interesting/astute choice to use Mariya for that scene with Emily. I know some people think it's impossible for women to rape someone...Closed space + testosterone-rich environment + self-serving soldiers of fortune + people directly telling them not to do something

Never said I'd avoid it.Well well well, seems like I'm not the only one intent on breaking my characters...
And I was going to guess that too. Damn it! Always a day late and a dollar short...Since I'm surprised people didn't guess my theme, everything in Black Void is an evil counterpart to XCOM.
Since I'm surprised people didn't guess my theme, everything in Black Void is an evil counterpart to XCOM. I wrote the framework for some of these scenes very early and with EXALT instead of BV (before Atka's covert op), which is why some of the references are ancient. Not everything lines up perfectly, of course, but this is the overarching idea I had in mind while writing.
Stockard, Emily's recruiter from her first post. Stockard is supportive and charismatic, even though Emily isn't always receptive to him. Generally, Stockard looks diligent and likes his job, where Barber just wishes he was shooting things.Dallas. Whereas Dallas is very obviously a romantic, Johnny just wants to get laid. Johnny is also much more aggressive than the somewhat passive and shy Dallas, making his advances seem creepy instead of charming.Nika. A selfish sociopath vs. the much more idealistic and empathic Nika, especially before Billy died and she took on the role of Heavy. Additionally, the shower scene was a far more malevolent counterpart to Atka and Ayame's shower scene, with Mariya being far less chivalrous than Ayame.Even though they're both good in the end, he represents Billy. Billy was hasty and team-focused, whereas Bobby is nervous and doesn't like his other teammates.Mira is Morrigan if she was self-serving and gave in to a bad influence (Council for Morrigan, Logan for Mira). Morrigan drinks with her soldiers, whereas Mira lives two dozen stories above them. Also, Morrigan's living daughter makes her more forgiving, whereas Mira's dead family makes her spiteful.Emily's fake ID has an evil version of her military history and motives, as stated. Her destruction of the server rooms play similar to her exploration of the generator rooms, just with damage on the mind instead of curiosity. If XCOM thought of their soldiers as weapons instead of people, they would look a lot more like BVC in general. BVC uses squads, equipment priorities, annoying robotic messages (COMMANDER TO THE RESEARCH LAB) and has a similar kind of base, albeit with the shell company building atop it instead of several yards of snow.
Even that can be considered a way they are opposite.has a similar kind of base, albeit with the shell company building atop it instead of several yards of snow.
Also, does everyone in BVC have a goatee?
