I have a big mission for you all. A bit unconventional in design, but we were already breaking new ground when it came to Avyssos.

So yeah, if Chandra's death caught you completely off-guard, then I did my job right. Apparently two poor souls already feel that I did. Also, there was a lot of parallelism there... too tired to unpack it all today, but the ending was a callback to Atka offering mercy to her clone, Xifeng - but Xifeng refused and died for it.

I was actually surprised we lost ONLY Chandra in the fight. It caught me off guard ofc, but I was expecting an MC to die in that fight. (Although Chandra was about as MC as a side character can get) I was actually expecting Samuel would go, or god forbid Ayame... I remember my reaction to seeing her on the soldier list and going "Oh fuck..."

If Ayame had gone out like that man I dunno... Sure woulda been a hell of a whiplash esc. shocker, Samuel would've shook me up pretty bad too. But Chandra was a good choice, as we all don't have that many MC's to kill. Gemi picked someone just important enough to be really impactfull and shocking, but just not quite as important as an MC. Although this death WILL shake XCOM's staff and soldier's to their core./SPOILER]

A death so moving, so impactful, it makes you miss the fact that someone else died to a hole in the chest from a psionic zombie. Poor Randall...

And thanks for the concern for Ayame. I was actually surprised Gem didn't mess her up a little. Though a lot of people tend to forget Ayame can regen, which gives me free range to give her a lot of abuse. To be fair, though, she has never had to try and recover from a nasty case of CHS (Crushed Head Syndrome).

The difference then was she was kinda a psycho bitch and her death was meaningless, but it didn't feel that way here. As weird as it is for an enemy, I understand her and why she felt that was the way it had to end.

I have that same problem with Marx.

He doesn't feel pain, so he can go through some shit without stopping. The only thing that would stop him being the blood loss really, but that takes a few moments.

Yeah, but the difference is just because he can't feel like he's getting hurt doesn't mean he isn't. I imagine having a child with his condition and it terrifies me. Good thing he can take a lickin', right?

The Thing about his condition is that it is a double edge sword.

During the fight with Merenu, Marx would've literally not been able to tell if he was dying or not since the lights were out and he couldn't feel pain. That was an aspect of his condition I wanted to highlight, that while you'd think not feeling pain would be very handy, there are many situations where pain is an exceptional asset.

Just wanted to bring this up since I know there is more then one Dark Soul lover here. This game called NIOH came out recently. It is feudal Japan themed and it is very Dark Souls-esk. More specifically, the fighting is probably closest to Bloodborne. It looks really cool and if I didn't just get a $100 ticket from one of this STUPID RED LIGHT CAMS BECAUSE I DIDN'T FUCKING WAIT LONG ENOUGH TO TURN RIGHT ON A RED APPEARENTLY!!!!!... ahem, I would probably pick it up myself. Check it out. Here is a stream of TeamFourStar playing it.

You think I would kill my main man? After setting up for something else basically this entire rp? No, no. I wouldn't do that.

... Not yet, anyway.

But yeah, Chandra's death shocked me too. I expected Randall to die, but her? The medic who has always been around? I was not ready for that bombshell.

So... got my letter from the Department of Human Services regarding getting my medical coverage back... and it was denied again...

Heading to the local office tomorrow to find out why. I dropped five hours a week at work to make sure I wasn't making too much but it still says I make too much. Maybe it was a mistake... but if not...

...I only have twenty-five days worth of medicine left. After that... anxiety goes up... depression goes up... my ability to sleep goes away... and that's probably it for me...
