A very pleasant meeting, at least compared to others.
“What can you tell me about Ira? He sounds…rigid.”
I have no interest in talking about him.
“Why not?”
Perhaps when its relevant, I will help…but please, I’d rather not think about him today.
Good foreshadowing into their relationship.
“Yes…our digestive system isn’t what it was. Generally it’s cloned extract from grains and plants. Some Ethereals are more ‘adventurous’ and eat highly tenderized meats in small chunks…your cattle were becoming popular exotic meats last I checked.”
“Beef being classified as ‘exotic’…”
“It must be amusing to hear,” Luxuria smiled. “Avaritia in particular loved eating human food, he always risked getting sick from something too spicy or too firm, but he wouldn’t miss the chance to try it.”
Nice reference to their deteriorated to bodies, as well Avy's nature.
Luxuria walked to the other end of the table and activated the disc, the lights beginning to shine towards Emily instead of upwards. Her head crooked as she looked into the origin point curiously, feeling her psionics being engaged by the device. In a single sweeping moment, the little pains and nagging tensions in her muscles and joints vanished. She stretched her arm upwards and gave a little jump, her legs bursting upwards with far more power than she expected. She bashed through the layers of concrete and steel above her, rocketing unstoppably until she reached the stratosphere. With a gentle wave, she fanned her arms out began to fly, a gentle breeze whipping across her face and through her clothes as she glided through the sky. Waves of tingling pleasure radiated from her heart, whisking through her body in a steady rhythm.
The slightly acrid taste of the Ethereal air disappeared, effortlessly replaced with the senses she cherished most. A spice-laced smell of magnolias, the tingle of mist cascading over her skin, the taste of freshly-made pancakes with strawberry syrup, and the child-like bliss and ardor of running towards the tree on Christmas morning. Emily let her eyes drift closed as she relaxed into a cool current, her fear and stress completely gone. Her eyes winked open again and she was where she was before, looking into the waterfall of violet, yellow, and green lights twinkling in front of her, waiting for further input.
Sounds... INCREDIBLY addicting, even without regulators. Reminds me of a scifi story I read years ago, name escapes me unfortunately, which centered around a brother and sister who owned a VR gaming company trying to clear their names of murder, and VR addiction is an incredibly problem in the story, spreading like a drug addiction.
You’re using my thought processes that are trapped in your mind since our first joining. Think of my imprint in your mind like a handprint in fine sand...you can see it exactly how it was, but if you try to change it, it will look faked or collapse. You can use it to toy with others’ chemical imbalances just like I do, and set off their breeding instincts…but you won’t be able to use it offensively, as I despise that kind of attack and have never used it.
Good foreshadowing into how Invidia will end up using his green psionics (and how he already has, i.e., Viktor's eye).
