25 years?!

*proceeds to scrap the entirety of my plans because that would put Isaac into his 80s*

Nah,I'll probably just end up doing something in the short story thread for that.
Well, you can consider one thing: that in three years, Elene is going to invent a serum that will halve physical aging. So Isaac would only look in his 60s, probably...heh.

You did, but after I had started plotting. I was still holding out hope
And if you have any ideas, do tell them, just understand that Zombie's the originator of the basic premise, at least for the XSDF RP. I know I'm probably going to be running a story of my own set in the same universe/time, just following a different sort of plot/colony.

Yes, we can do shorter RPs taking place after less time has passed.

I just needed it to be long enough after for everyone to get acclimated to the new tech, the idea of space travel, and a more unified order, and for enough time to have passed for humanity to recover enough so they could have another conflict with out being rekt.

Well, unified by an overarching council, but I'm not so sure the world would ever be ready for the concept of one nation.

They wouldn't be compatible. It was a two-stage story, the first stage being a dramatic shift in country borders with various dignitaries in all of the new nations that could be controlled/characterized/worked for/killed and usurped/etc., then there would be a crisis at the midway point where the countries that didn't have PCs did something dramatic against the ones that did, then there would be a second alien invasion from a coalition of species abused by the Ethereals who believe we're protecting them which would bring the remaining countries together (allowing interesting things like a merc who was working against another commander suddenly on the same team).

In a nutshell, the first stage would be like character-driven Risk, then turn into something more similar to SoD towards the end.

Yeah that sounds... chaotic for the first part. And the second part assumes that all the races would band together to invade us. I can see how that's not compatible.

Actually, I just realized something. One of my plans for a "few years time" that I may or may not have half mentioned was for Isaac to retire as Overseer, and so look for a replacement. This almost happened at the end of this rp, but time constraints occurred.

So... auditions are open, I guess. Anyone want one of their characters to assume the position of Overseer, or should I just create another character for it?

I think you should keep it. He is one of those characters that you can work on without worry of most time constraints. Besides, no one could do it better than you.

I agree.

Or... OOOORRRR! What if you have someone in a new Overseer role? Someone who can gather information for the XSDF on alien activities? Maybe one who trades on the galactic information network? Food for thought, yes?

Not all, just some of the old ones and mostly new ones. Also, before you say no, what if I told you that you owned a continent? :3

Australian Republic
Leader: Prime Minister Jacob Wallace
Notable People: Elene Exalt, CEO of EXALT
Previously: Australia
Troops: 80,000 Troops, 400,000 Reserves
Reliable Assets: Cloning, Tier 3 Equipment
History: Left in a predicament following both the domination and corruption brought from Invidia’s occupation, and as well the dissolution of the various European powers that no longer had room for channels with an island nation, Australia needed to find a solution that allowed the tiny country be able to stand up to the new grouping of superpowers slowly growing into its region. This came in the form of EXALT, a corporation with a surprisingly high amount of technology that trades it sparingly in return for a lack of tax and oversight over its Sydney-based headquarters. EXALT holds such a high sway in the country, it can essentially control the government with as little as a friendly query.

Eh, I'm just not keen on trying to RP out a world war. I like the idea of a future where things turned out well, instead of a nearly immediately after where Atka and everyone else feel like their sacrifices meant nothing because the world is plunged into chaos and a bloodbath that they can't hope to cope with so recently after the invasion.

The chaos would be more comparable to the Cold War rather than a WW. Lots of borders being consumed, uncertainty, espionage, weapon hoarding, proxy wars. I think it'd be fun, but meh, too late to really convince anyone on it anyway.

Might be cool for some other RP (And I wouldn't object to such a thing existing) just not very... um, XCOM-y.
