Looks good in my tired, 12 hours of work eyes. But I'm too tired to comment right now. Promise to reread in the morning and comment tomorrow.

Promise.

Fresh off the plate.
This is very much the 'an ode to Zmby' mission. First the Yorin make an appearance as the Mindleeches, then the Incubators make their official return as the Prowlers, and finally the Masquer of all people return as the incredibly powerful Latticers.

Also yeah, Atka's full Reflection in this timeline finally reveals itself. Yes, she can turn back time... but there are limitations and drawbacks that aren't explicitly stated yet, but if you look at clues in the battle... you can make some predictions and extrapolate some concepts.

That was godamn good. Enjoyed every minute of reading the base defense, props to everyone involved. I expected good stuff, I was not disappointed.

So... you done? We able to post as normal again?

More or less. Granted, there are recovery posts I'd like to do to clarify somethings, but for now just assume the Avenger has flown off somewhere uber-remote and we're licking our wounds. One of the things on the agenda is
giving the six fallen soldiers a proper funeral.

Read the Alpha mission. Very intense, very action packed. Really showed the danger the group was in, more so then mine did regretfully despite mine being more exposed.

Those deaths, though... really shows how limiting the body count can make them more impactful. So so far, I don't know which was sadder, the one who died right in Alex's face, the one who I enjoyed playing as in a couple missions, or Christina who... no... no, Christina is definitely the saddest one so far. So sad... so brave... so impactful.

And this is why I make my NPC squads. Because I want you to love them, while also being on edge because they don't have the job security of main characters.

And I see the best, by far, was saved for last. I liked the inclusion of one alien that never got any real screen time, and the second was a very clever fight. The third was intimidating... though to be honest I had no idea they were supposed to be the aliens they were considering the differences from my original cultural design. Though to be fair, those never really got a chance to get off the ground and are lost in the wind. I just didn't realize that was who it was supposed to be because I never pictures them as combatants.

I loved the action. I loved the drama.

Deaths were again impactful, though I would be lying if I said I wasn't all that pleased with the death of another of the people I characterized in Chile on another person's mission, and Carlos to boot, who I really like and had a few ideas for. :( Oh well.

My thoughts are mostly positive.

My thoughts are mostly positive, though there is one... probably obvious issue I had with the last one. But I'll save that for when everyone gets a chance to read.
I feel it is important to state what I said about alien 3 Wasn't a complaint, just an observation. He/she was bad as, probably the most intimidating alien to date, and I loved it.

Do PM me details about them if you want, I'l try and work in what fits with this alternate version.
Nothing really to change. I just pictures them as universal traders, an odd species of people who were difficult to deal with because their lives were governed so much by rules but if you got on their good side, they could get you anything you needed for the most simple supplies to the most exotic things.

Like I said, no complaints. This is just an alternate version of the same alien that is radically different because of changes in the timeline, much like the Bajir went from a race of peaceful, timid, somewhat cowardly engineers to quick moving, armored warriors thanks to the inclusion of cybernetics.

Yup. Fair enough. To be honest the reason I picked Masquer as the Disciples is because they wear masks too and I imagined them being receptive to the Elder's "gospel".

I plan to make an entry describing what the different aliens look like at some point if I have the time, complete with any good reference pictures I can find. This is what I would use for the Latticer.

So, I don't know if anyone noticed amongst the chaos, but there was a moment during the mission that Morrigan started talking (and yelling) to herself.

“Fucking hell…” Morrigan looked around, and sent her Gremlin out to fire at the medic, keeping him busy so he wouldn’t notice any injured enemies. She squeezed her eyes shut in pain for a moment and said, “You don’t… have to yell. You are practically in my head, I… fuck you! I’ll show you a fucking coward!” She pulled out an HE grenade and took a few seconds to calculate trajectory. Letting it fly, it landed behind the enemy shieldbearer and knocked down the troopers, not killing them but certainly hurting them.

I posted a solo explaining why. Enjoy.

Well, I feel like you guys deserve something from me so...

As you may recall from Gemi's post, I'm kicked out of the rp until I can recover from my depression... Since I really don't feel like that's possible at this point, I suppose I'm not coming back. I'll still try to keep up with the rp if I feel up to it and I'll still be on the site, but I guess my writing for X-com is done.

Yeah sure, I could just say I'm better and get back in, but I'll just be insta-kicked if I miss anything, so there's no point.
